Creating Positive Energy in the Workplace

When we spend so many hours a day in a working environment, the goal should be to create an energy in the workplace that :-
Inspires, motivates, energizes and encourages your team to shine.

We live in such a demanding society. Trying to achieve that illusive work – life- balance can often take its toll. If you are juggling life outside of work and then spend 8 to 10 hours a day in a draining, negative working environment, it wont be long before you burn out and become disillusioned with every aspect of your life. A really negative working environment can take its toll on employees’ health, well-being and job satisfaction.

Think about your workplace.
Are your colleagues exhausted already and 2015 has only just begun?

Has everyone just returned to work after the festive season and hit the ground running without even taking a breath?

Is everyone already complaining about how tired they feel and are counting the hours till the weekend?

When focussing on goals, productivity and budgets at work, do you ever consider how vital it is to support your teams wellness?

When you think of how many hours a week you spend in your workplace, do you ever consider how your environment effects productivity?

Does your office space uplift and energise the team and clients?

Is it welcoming and inviting? Does it inspire and support your team to be the best that they can be?

If you are the boss or the team leader, do YOU personally inspire your team to shine?

Here are some simple ways that you can change the energy in your workplace.

1: Invest in your staff’s wellness.

2: Provide opportunities that encourage your team to feel uplifted. Organize office sports activities – group walks during breaks, the occasional weekend hike.
Invite your staff’s families to participate in outside activities. Take a few moments throughout the working day to encourage your staff to breathe slowly, calm down and recharge.

3: Clean up the staff room. Fill it with fresh fruit, nuts herbal teas and organic coffee and get rid of the biscuits and sugary fixes. Providing these little extras really show your staff that you value their wellness.

4: Invite trainers, health coaches and wellness professionals in to spend 30 minutes educating your team on the importance of taking care of their health. Surely you can factor in 30 minutes once a month to empower your team to live well?

5: Hold staff meetings that are actually productive. Pay attention to your staffs contributions and comments and recognize excellence. Your staff should feel motivated and excited after a meeting.

6: A breakfast staff meeting in a local healthy organic café occasionally is a great environment to inspire, educate and motivate. Make the effort to schedule a meeting outside of the office.

7: When it comes to acknowledging a staff members efforts, a gift voucher from a healthy café, a naturopath, yoga classes or any service that promotes wellness is a great way to foster a healthy attitude. Be creative.

8 : Trust your staff. No-one likes having someone standing over them watching everything they do. Showing your staff that you have faith in them creates independence and strength.

9: Does your workspace need a makeover? Nothing is more uplifting than a welcoming workplace. Don’t overlook how important it is to create an inspiring, exciting work environment not only for all who work in it, but for clients as well.

10: Can you improve lighting and air flow? Can you create more effective work stations and comfortable staff rooms? Remove clutter and chaos and create a calm, welcoming environment.

Create a culture of wellness and excellence and start pumping that positive energy into your workplace.
