Emotional Tranquility

Life has its ups and of course life has its downs. We are all subject to emotional stress. It is often caused by other people in our lives, business associates, partners, trades people, family, friends, the list is endless.

Emotional stress symptoms include, anger, anxiety, nausea, fear, headaches and that awful knot in your stomach that seems to pull tighter and tighter as the emotional stress takes over. When you feel emotional stress, you have a much higher chance of reacting impulsively to the situation. Often, reacting impulsively can lead to regret.
Reacting to a situation with emotion will often lead to creating a far worse situation and will also cause endless emotional stress.

There is great power in the spoken word, and saying things when you are running on stress will almost always lead to regret. Once you have unleashed your fury fueled by emotional stress, you cant rewind and retract your statements.

So how do you manage emotional stress and feel the power of emotional tranquility?

Breathe
Take a moment to sit and breathe deeply. Five slow breaths in and out, will completely bring your whole body back into balance.

Focus
Focus your mind on finding  your calm. Close your eyes and visualise a beautiful stream. See yourself sitting by it. Visualise the peace and allow the feeling to flood through your body. It only takes a few minutes to calm the mind with meditation. You can visualise whatever it is that makes you feel calm. A beach, a waterfall, whatever brings your body and mind tranquility.

Review
Once you are feeling calm and centred, review the cause of the stress.

Time out
Take some time to  really  acknowledge the trigger.

Resolve
Take some time to find a solution to the trigger

Now you are calm, you have a choice

A calm response that incorporates all aspects of the problem showing great strength of character or an angry reactive response exposing how out of control you are really feeling.

Always, stop, pause and centre yourself so you can be sure to find the best response to your emotional stress. Take necessary steps daily to breathe and calm the mind to ensure you are continuously balanced. This process will ensure you experience the peace and clarity that comes with emotional tranquility.
